CTS : Craftsmen Training Scheme

Objective

The goal of SSTPL program is to offer students who have dropped out of formal education, often to supplement their family income, an opportunity to re-enter the education system. By doing so, we aim to help sustain their long-term employability.

For society at large, such courses can enhance skills supply, productivity, labor market efficiency, social equity, and civic participation.

Our programs are particularly focused on youth from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds and those with limited educational qualifications. We provide hands-on training designed to make participants globally employable.

Currently, SSTPL offers the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) in the automotive sector in collaboration with industry partner Maruti Suzuki and academic partner NCVET. To date, we have enrolled over 2,200 students in our program.

B.VOC : Bachelor of Vocational Studies (Diploma /Advanced Diploma /Degree)

Duration: Three years (6 semesters)

Objective

The Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) program aims to enhance students’ employability by combining general education with specialized job-specific training based on National Occupational Standards (NOSs). This program is structured to be integrated within undergraduate studies at universities and colleges, offering a balanced approach between academics and practical skills.

Key features of the B.Voc. program include:

Multiple entry and exit points: Students have the flexibility to exit the program at various stages: after one year with a Diploma, after two years with an Advanced Diploma, or after three years with a B.Voc. degree.

Industry partnerships: Strong collaboration with industry partners ensures that the curriculum remains relevant and aligned with current job market needs. Industry partners play a key role in shaping the program’s academic framework.

Credit-based semester system: The program follows a structured credit and semester-based system for flexibility and progression.

Currently, SSTPL offers the B.Voc. program in the automotive sector, in collaboration with our industry partner Ashok Leyland, and our academic partners Quantum University, Roorkee, and Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora. To date, we have enrolled over 900 students in this course.

Procedure & Responsibility

INDUSTRY

  1. Industry and University signs MoU, which is valid for 3 – years and renewable.
  2. Industry /University and Training Partner signs MoU.
  3. Industry plans and advises Training Partner to select & mobilize Trainees.
  4. Industry coordinates with University directly and through Training Partner.

Training Partner (Smart Skills) 

  1. Coordinate with University on behalf of Industry.
  2. Develop study materials and training contents.
  3. Prepare Classroom Training Plan.
  4. Select & mobilize Trainees as advised by Industry.
  5. Arrange Medical Fitness check-up of trainees before induction.
  6. Arrange Medical Insurance of trainees.
  7. Prepare trainees Personal Data Forms and records.
  8. Conduct classroom training for first two months to cover all basic practical and core skills.
  9. Coordinate to issue Industry Id cards, uniform, PPEs etc to trainees.
  10. Handover trainees to Industry.
  11. Conduct Theory Classes/Tests weekly to evaluate trainees’ performance during OJT.
  12. Coordinate with Industry to get semester-wise Industry Evaluation of Trainees.
  13. Coordinate for conducting Semesters Exam on dates assigned by University.
  14. Coordinate with university to issue students result ,Diploma & Degree.
